J.G. Hosiery Private Limited - Macho Hint

Recommendation: Not Upheld | Medium: General Public

The ASCI had approached the advertiser for its response in addressing the grievances of the complainant and forwarded the details of the complaint, verbatim, to the advertiser with a request to respond to the same. The advertiser was offered an option to seek an Informal Resolution (IR) of the complaint by modifying or withdrawing the advertisement. The advertiser was also offered an opportunity for a telecon with the ASCI Secretariat, which they did not avail and neither did they submit their written response. The Consumer Complaints Council (CCC) viewed the TVC (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WIvURhu534) and considered the complaint. The CCC observed that no response was received from the advertiser prior to the prescribed due date as specified by the ASCI Secretariat. The CCC observed that the advertiser is promoting inner wear for men. The advertisement shows a military parade scene wherein a group of motorcycle riders enter. The hero, Tiger Shroff plays a prominent role in the march past. His girlfriend is seated with her father, one of the main guests for the function. As her father initially disapproves of their relationship, the girl becomes worried, but the hero soon calms her down. The team's motto, “We dare and we win” is displayed originally through posters carried by the motorbike team. The hero, Tiger Shroff then commands his team to turn over the banners, which then reads as, "Will you marry me Priya?".The CCC discussed that the advertisement depicting a military parade scene with a proposal, did not ridicule or show disrepute to the Indian Army and Air Force. The advertisement is not offensive and likely to cause grave and widespread offence. The advertisement is not in contravention of Chapter I or Chapter III of the ASCI Code. This complaint was NOT UPHELD.
