GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare Limited - ENO

The Consumer Complaints Council (CCC) viewed the TVC and its corresponding YouTube advertisement (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xvd9r-qJbA) depicting the protagonist eating a samosa and enjoying a family get-together. When he complains of hyperacidity, he is offered lemon juice and ajwain (carom seeds); whereas one of the family member states that leave all that aside and have ENO. The advertisement further indicates that ENO begins working within six seconds. The CCC observed that the advertisement does not disparage ingredients like lemon juice or ajwain rather the product is presented as a quick acting option. In this context, the CCC concluded that the TVC and its corresponding YouTube advertisement was neither in contravention of Chapter I nor Chapter IV of the ASCI Code. The complaint was NOT UPHELD.
